ITINERARY

Day 1 - Meeting at the CTM Bus station in Marrakesh. Board the CTM bus towards Ouarzazate. Check in at the hotel. Rest of the day free. Overnight in Ouarzazate 

Day 2 - Morning tour in Ouarzazate with a stop at the Cinema Museum. Afternoon tour to Ait Ben Haddou, a historic fortified village, or ksar, located in the Ouarzazate province of Morocco. Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site, it is renowned for its traditional Moroccan earthen clay architecture. The ksar features a collection of kasbahs (fortresses) and houses, many adorned with intricate decorations. Ait Ben Haddou has been a filming location for numerous movies and TV shows, including "Gladiator" and "Game of Thrones," due to its well-preserved and picturesque landscape. The site exemplifies the rich cultural heritage and architectural ingenuity of the region. At night we will have our first drumming workshop. We will begin with a gift of a drum that you get to keep and customize, followed by an introductory  session covering basic rhythms patterns. Overnight in Ouarzazate.

Day 3 - We leave in the morning by CTM bus towards Zagora where we will have a channce to visit the souk (local market) that happens in every Wednesday. In the afternnoon we will go to Tamgroute, a village in southern Morocco's Draa Valley, renowned for its green pottery and historic 17th-century Islamic library. It also houses the Nasseriyya zawiya, a significant Sufi religious and educational institution. We will visit the library and the pottery making. Overnight in Tamgroute.

Day 4 - We leave in the morning by local taxi to Mhamid. In the afternoon we will have a drumming workshop with a local drumming teacher at the Joudour Sahara Music School partnered by the Playing for Change Foundation, where we will get to play with local musicians. After the session, head to the desert to spend the night inn a desert camp, where we are treated to a night of music with local musicians, and where we can join with our drums. Overnight at the desert camp.

Day 5 - Morning hike in the Sahara dunes. Workshop at the school. In the afternoon, head to the Zamane Festival for the inauguration ceremony: Please check Here for the Festival´s Program.

​Overnight in Mhamid.

Day 6 - The day is Spend at the Zamane Festival. During the Festival we will have opportunity to Jam along with local musicians but the schedule will be define in the morning at the local.

Day 7 - The day is Spend at the Zamane Festival. 

 

Day 8 - Early in the morning we take the CTM bus back to Marrakesh.

Price: 1745€/Pax in shared double room  (flights not included)

Single room suplement : 450€ (subject to availability)

Singer and guitar player of the Backbeat Mojo a blues band with ​

Matilde Ho

Surfer, Drummer and percussionist of Backbeat Mojo and Flor Girino, she will be responsible to lead the drumming workshops throughout the trip and facilitate the interaction with the local musicians.
